About the Entrepreneur
For 60 years and counting, locally-owned and operated Alert Alarm Hawaii has been dedicated to protecting island homes and businesses, growing from just two employees on one island to become the largest security company in the state and 26th largest in the country. They run the only local monitoring center open all day, every day, so customers are helped by employees right here in Hawaii who know the neighborhoods they service.
In 2019, Alert Alarm acquired National Fire Protection, and are expanding to include fire suppression systems, as well as increased video analytics and video monitoring. Alert Alarm is always looking for new ways to not only help police departments and reduce crime, but to give island residents peace of mind.

What is something that might surprise people about the alarm business or Alert Alarm in particular?
Alert Alarm is the best security system monitored locally. The majority of our competitors actually monitor with third-party call centers on the mainland. Pronouncing the streets here is very challenging, and that is something we are very good at because we have local employees who really know the neighborhoods, and they know the families and the schools.

The thing I really value about Hawaii National Bank is the personal banking relationship they've maintained. When there is an issue or question about a transaction, I can call my representative and they can get an answer to me immediately.

The number of locations. The bank is larger than you would think. Also, the technology they provide to their end-users and customers is outstanding.
